South Lake Union Day

South Lake Union Day, sponsored by Port of Seattle, featured hands-on activities from SS VIRGINIA V and partnering organizations: The Center for Wooden Boats, Museum of History & Industry, Northwest Seaport, Puget Sound Maritime, and Seattle Maritime Academy.

​Program Description:

Youth who were participating in internships or education and career training programs were invited to attend this all-day event at Lake Union Park to learn about maritime career opportunities, get hands-on experience with real maritime skills, and explore the history behind transportation and industry in the Puget Sound region. The day included a hands-on learning cruise aboard the historic SS VIRGINIA V, learning about shipbuilding and restoration techniques with Northwest Seaport, and a visit to the Museum of History & Industry.
